Corsages & Body Flowers Guide
Corsages are both fashionable and decorative, frequently worn at weddings, proms, and special events. Whether worn on the collar, in the hair, or on the wrist, a few simple care tips will help you get the most out of your body flowers.
Caring for Your Corsage
- Avoid temperature changes. Corsages should not be exposed to sudden changes in temperature. Keep them in a box when travelling, especially in cold temperatures.
- Handle gently. Too much handling can damage flowers, causing bruising to the stems and blooms. Hold your corsage by the ribbon or backing where possible.
- Refrigerator storage. When storing corsages, place moist cotton over the corsage, keep it in a sealed cellophane bag or refrigerator container, and place in the refrigerator.
- No fridge available? Keep the corsage out of the air and in a cool place. Place moist cotton over the corsage before storing.
- Orchid corsages are the exception. Orchids should be kept out of the refrigerator — instead, place the stem in water in a cool room where the temperature is constant.
Important Note on Water
Water spots some flowers and can cause hardening of petals. Always seek advice from the florist supplying the corsages for the best way to care for them. Moist cotton should be used wherever possible instead of sprinkling the flowers with water directly.
💐 Wedding Tip
Order corsages from your local florist well in advance of your event. They can advise on the best flowers for your outfit and the season, and provide specific care instructions for the varieties used.
